Parenting is complicated. When kids are struggling, parents suffer. Parents often find they need to better understand their child and how to help their child. Students may have specific learning mental health and situational circumstances that can make it confusing to know what to do to help your child. Often confusion is compounded by frustration and a misplaced sense of guilt. Often the challenges facing children and young adults lacks the information, skills and strategies parents need to help a parent help their child. There is an interplay between development, temperament, identity, stress and anxiety and learning differences such as giftedness, autism, attention deficit disorders, learning disabilities that create confusion about what to do and what not to do. Mike works with parents to first understand their unique circumstances and then help provide information, skills and strategies can help parents better understand what needs attention, what needs to be watched and what a parent needs to do to maintain a positive relationship and dialogue with their child regardless of the age. Additionally, there are a variety of professional and resources that can help young people and their parents but understanding which resources are important when can be equally mysterious to parents.
